Nithsdale Discretionary Budget funds

Following the September Nithsdale Area Committee, local elected members have agreed a number of funds supported by the Discretionary Budget as outlined below, which are now open:

  • Tackling Poverty and Inequalities Small Grants Fund for requests up to £2,000 (total budget available £25,026.38)

This fund has been established to respond to feedback around need for smaller awards with a quick turnaround to assist local third sector Organisations to support some of our most vulnerable residents across Nithsdale.  This fund has specific Priorities, Criteria and Eligibility which you can view HERE. A maximum of £2,000 per application is available and match funding will be required to support the total eligible costs.  There is no deadline for this Fund and applications will be assessed, once complete, as they are received and the fund will remain open until available budget has been dispersed.   • Discretionary Budget Small Grants Fund for requests up to £2,000 (total budget £48,067.71)

Expressions of Interest are invited to receive support from the general Discretionary Budget to deliver projects which meet one of the Area Committee Priority Areas (detailed on the Expression of Interest form available HERE). A maximum of £2,000 per application is available and match funding will be required to support the total eligible costs.  There is no deadline for this Fund and applications will be assessed, once complete, as they are received and the fund will remain open until available budget has been dispersed.

  • COVID-19 Renew/Restart Fund for requests up to £1,000 (total budget £19,020)

Expressions of Interest are invited to receive support from the dedicated COVID-19 Renew/Restart fund to support organisations to recover from COVID and to renew and/or restart their activities.  Key Priority Areas have been identified and are detailed on the Expression of Interest form available HERE.  A maximum of £1000 per application is available and match funding will be required to support the total eligible costs.   There is no deadline for this Fund and applications will be assessed, once complete, as they are received and the fund will remain open until available budget has been dispersed.

  • Fire Safety Budget (total budget available £20,000)

The Area Committee seeks to secure a delivery partner(s) to support delivery of a new Priority Area aimed at installing smoke/heat detectors in vulnerable homeowner properties across Nithsdale.  Third and Public Sector organisations may submit an Expression of Interest using this form HERE.  Deadline for Expressions of Interest mid-day 30 September 2021.  Where Expressions of Interest equal or are less than the available budget, these can be assessed by delegated Officers.  Where they exceed the available budget, a report will be presented to the Nithsdale Area Committee meeting on 10 November for consideration. IMPORTANT:  This fund is open to organisations supporting the installation of equipment only and is not open to individual people to apply.

It is important to note that you cannot apply to any of the above funds to support any shortfall in a project currently being support by Dumfries and Galloway Council/Area Committee.
