Community Worker (Part Time Maternity Cover)

Kirkcolm Community Trust wishes to fill a part time post (approx. 15 hrs per week) for the period end of May 22 through to the beginning of October 22. This reflects an anticipated period of maternity cover but may be extended through unforeseen circumstances.

• Support the community groups as specified and agreed
• Work with the Trust to identify new community groups and community activities
• Ensure the availability of Kirkcolm Hub for meetings of said groups
• Identify new volunteers for the Trust
• Reply to relevant emails
• Maintain Volunteer contact information
• Attend monthly Board meetings
• Attend mentoring session as agreed with Creetown Initiative
• Work with the Trust the Community Council and Creetown initiative in developing a Community Plan
• Liaise with inform and update the current Community worker during the time of her maternity leave
• Provide a full report on activities at the end of the period within an agreed process of hand over.
• Use social media to promote the Trust projects and achievements
• React to new opportunities which could be either projects or funding.
• Supervision of following:-

• Security and access
• Health and Safety Compliance
• Cleaning services
• Fire Regulations compliance
• Booking systems

Additional specific requirement

To liaise with the current Community worker on progress being made and ensure a good hand over at the end of the period.


This is a post that had very flexible hours to meet the usage of the hub and the availability of volunteers and users.

Potential for extension

The Trust is currently considering future employment requirements as the use of our facilities expands and as further projects and activities are developed. There can be no promises made here but it is possible that this post could become more permanent.
