You will work across our gardening and outdoor projects, helping to maintain gardens and green spaces while supporting adults with additional support needs to safely participate in a range of grounds maintenance activities.
This is a hands-on role that combines practical outdoor work with supporting individuals to build confidence, learn new skills, and take part in meaningful work activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
– Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on lawnmowers
– Strimming, edging, and general grounds maintenance
– Hedge cutting and pruning
– Weeding, planting, and general garden maintenance
– Supporting adults with additional support needs to safely participate in gardening and grounds maintenance tasks
– Demonstrating and teaching practical gardening and grounds maintenance skills
– Ensuring the safe use of machinery, equipment, and PPE
– Carrying out daily equipment checks and reporting faults
– Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment
– Loading and unloading equipment and materials as required
– Driving charity vehicles between work locations when required
– Maintaining high standards of health and safety at all times
– Working positively as part of a team to deliver high-quality services
Essential Requirements
· Experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, landscaping, or horticulture
· Experience using lawnmowers, ride-on mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, and other gardening equipment
· Full UK Driving Licence
· Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
· Good communication and interpersonal skills
· A caring, patient, and positive attitude
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
· Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
Desirable Requirements
– Experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism, or additional support needs
– Relevant horticultural or grounds maintenance qualifications
– Experience towing trailers
– Basic machinery maintenance knowledge
