Affordable Homes Project
Following a series of successful funding applications, the Gatehouse Development Initiative (GDI) has commissioned a feasibility study to establish the viability of building community-owned, energy efficient homes on a brownfield site in the conservation area of Gatehouse of Fleet.
The former Woodside Garage site has been derelict for 17 years and is identified in the Dumfries and Galloway Local Development Plan 2 as allocated for housing. Recent community engagement has demonstrated widespread community support for the project due to the shortage of affordable homes for local people.
The GDI has partnered with South of Scotland Community Housing (SOSCH) to provide support with securing funding, financial modelling, alloca3on policy and ongoing community engagement.
Role description
Funding is in place to take the project to pre-planning application stage and we are now looking for an experienced, proactive, and energetic Project Manager to set the pace and lead the project on behalf of the GDI.
Wide-ranging tasks will include the development of a detailed project plan, commissioning the site investigation survey, flood risk mitigation strategy and green transport plan along with community engagement. Careful cost control, budget management and regular progress reports to the GDI will ensure that the project stays on track. You will work with SOSCH to identify and secure future funding.
Experience Required
This is a highly rewarding but complex project with many hurdles to overcome that requires a positive, solution-focussed approach. We are looking for an energetic project lead with experience of complex building projects, who is able to bring our community housing vision to life.
You will be familiar with the planning application process and will know how to move the project forward at the pace needed to meet our strict funding deadlines.
