New lipreading training on its way

New lipreading training starts next week with courses primarily for those who are hard of hearing.

If places are available, Dumfries and Galloway Hard of Hearing Group will be happy to accommodate anyone who has a reason why such a course would be useful.

The courses will be conducted by Tracy Carroll, their experienced course Tutor. The courses will be friendly and relaxed, providing attendees the opportunity to learn and practise in a safe and positive environment.

Beginners Lipreading Starting 12th October 10am – 11.45am

This free 10-week course is intended for anyone who would like to develop their lipreading skills and improve their ability to communicate with others. The course will provide you with a greater understanding of the theory of lipreading, explain how confusion might occur and provide effective solutions for common communication problems. The course will be accessed via Zoom.

Improvers Lipreading Starting 13th October 10am – 11.45am

Join this free 10-week improvers lipreading course and build on themes covered at the introductory level. As you further develop your lipreading skills you will also improve your ability to communicate and reduce the impact of hearing loss. This course is designed for those who have some experience and knowledge of lipreading, but newcomers to lipreading would also be welcome. The course will be accessed via Zoom.
