Summary of role

Food Train provide a low cost home delivery service of grocery shopping to elderly people who aren’t able to get out and shop for themselves. Volunteer days are Mondays/Tuesdays/Wednesdays.

If you can spare even one day per month you could shop or drive or help on the van around the Machars area, shopping at Sainsbury or collecting lists or delivering groceries to provide essential supplies and some social contact for elderly people in our area.

Shopping orders are collected on one day then volunteers shop and deliver the next day. Knowledge of the local area helpful but not essential, street maps and full vehicle insurance provided. Out of pocket expenses paid.

Training details

Induction, ongoing support from development officer and other volunteers. Annual training day and other training as required.

Other details

Over 18s. Two hours per week or fortnightly or occasionally. Three-month commitment.
