Volunteers will be supported by a professional youth worker to gain experience in working with young people. Volunteers will require to register with the PVG scheme.
Summary of role
Volunteer youth workers to help with setting up the hall, having a chat with young people and helping with activities. Activities will take place within the town hall and in the local park.
Supervising young people on bus trips to other youth activities in Castle Douglas, Gatehouse and Kirkcudbright.
We are particularly keen to recruit volunteers to help on Saturdays.
Skills required
No experience is necessary. An interest in working with young people is essential along with good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Training
Induction and Support will be given by trained youth workers and GCAT staff. Applicants will be interviewed by GC&AT staff, references sought and PVG applied for (paid for).
