Equalities Partnership

Bringing equality to Dumfries and Galloway

The Partnership was established in 2017 by four local organisations: DG Voice, Dumfries and Galloway Multicultural Association, Dumfries and Galloway LGBT Plus and LGBT Youth Scotland.

Since its inception, Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway has worked with the Partnership on a joint commission on representation and engagement, working together towards a shared vision of Dumfries and Galloway as a region where diversity is respected and celebrated, and everyone feels safe and included.

Members have worked together since the Partnership was established to develop working practices, which complement and support each other’s work, feed into local policy, and identify opportunities to increase promotion of equality and diversity across the region.

The main objectives of the partnership are to:

  • Raise awareness of equality and diversity in relation to each of the protected characteristics.
  • Increase the diversity of people making a contribution to public life and the wider community, for example management committees, tenants and residents associations, boards of third sector organisations, community councils and public bodies.
  • Represent the experiences and needs of minority communities in policy development and implementation across Dumfries and Galloway.
