The booking link is for organisations wanting to attend as an exhibitor. This is a walk-in event for the public with no need to book.

The Mid Nithsdale Health and Wellbeing Marketplace will take place on 17th September at Old School Thornhilll. This locality-based event will showcase the services, activities and support available specifically to people living in Thornhill and Mid Nithsdale.

The Marketplace will bring together third sector organisations, community groups, NHS services, council teams and other statutory partners supporting people’s health, wellbeing and social care. Organisations will have the opportunity to promote their services to one another and directly to members of the public.

From 11am–3pm, the Marketplace will be open to the public as a free, informal drop-in event. Local people can come along, explore the support available and speak directly to the organisations that deliver it. This could include support for mental health, physical health, musculoskeletal conditions, carers, social care, social connection, community activities, long-term conditions, financial wellbeing and much more. There is no need to book.

The aim is to help people find the right support, in the right place, at the right time—enabling them to stay healthy, well, connected and supported within their own communities.

Before the public session, participating organisations will have dedicated networking and set-up time from 9am–11am. This will allow services to learn more about one another, create connections, discuss referral pathways, identify gaps and explore opportunities for partnership working. Following the public session, there will be time from 3pm–4pm for feedback, shared learning and packing down.

Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway will facilitate each Marketplace, supporting organisations and members of the public to make meaningful connections and helping to strengthen the network of health, wellbeing and social care support available within each locality.

This session is for third sector organisations, community groups, NHS services, council teams and other statutory partners that currently provide a service, activity or form of support to people living in Mid Nithsdale.

Exhibition spaces are intended for organisations with an existing offer that residents can access now. They are not intended for organisations attending solely to scope the locality, promote a future service or explore potential expansion into the area.

Each exhibiting organisation should nominate representatives who can attend for the full event, take part in the networking session and speak confidently with members of the public about

  • What the organisation provides
  • Who can access its support
  • How people access or are referred to the service
  • Any eligibility criteria, costs or waiting times
  • Where and when the service is available
  • How other organisations can connect or make referrals
