Annan Bowling Club – Health and Safety Improvements – £400

Enhancing safety for elderly members by purchasing bowl gatherers and replacing slippery mats.

Annan The History Town Group – Forging Our History Project – £4,980

Engaging the community in creating a public art centrepiece with traditional blacksmithing workshops.

Auchencairn Initiative – Community Garden-Improved Access – £2,532

Enhancing accessibility in the community garden with wheelchair friendly paths and safety improvements.

Balmaclellan Village Hall – Improve Heating, Lighting and Insulation for Village Hall – £20,100

Replacing the heating system and improving insulation to enhance energy efficiency and comfort.

Building Futures Galloway – Youth Stonemasonry Training – £5,000

Training young people in traditional stonemasonry skills and to gain professional qualifications.

Building Futures Galloway – Net Zero Retrofit Whithorn – £47,376

Reducing carbon emissions in heritage buildings while training young people in the skills of construction.

Creative Stranraer – Open Doors – £8,334

Offering free creative workshops for young people and families.

Dumfries Pipe Band – Dumfries Pipe Band – £1,800

Supporting the band with professional tutors and delivery costs for regular use of the Troqueer Community Hall.

Galloway Food Hub (Propagate Scotland) – Galloway Food Hub Rural Expansion – £16,524

Expanding food network activities by promoting climate friendly, locally sourced food.

Glenkens Community and Arts Trust – Decarbonising CatStrand – £42,161

Reducing energy and CO2e emissions at the CatStrand venue by installing heat pumps and solar panels.

Haugh of Urr Village Hall SCIO – Village Hall Extension Refurbishment – £11,000

Renovating the hall’s extension to improve community facilities and meeting spaces.

Home-Start Wigtownshire – Family Support/Volunteer Coordinator Staff Post – £5,868

Extending the Family Support Coordinator role to provide holistic family support.

Lockerbie Squash and Racketball Club – Solar Panel and Battery Storage – £17,000

Installing solar panels to lower energy costs and promote sustainability for the club.

Hosting rural Pop-Up Pride events to enhance access to LGBTQ+ support for isolated young people.

Machars and Cree Valley Climate Action Network – MAC-CAN Climate Connections – £5,000

Organising events to educate rural communities about climate change and inspire collective action.

Providing essential items like clothing and pushchairs to families in need.

Supporting food-growing initiatives and workshops to address food inequality in rural areas.

Rokpa Trust Lothlorien Community – Growing Nature Connections – £13,000

Providing outdoor facilities and space to support nature-based programs which will improve mental health through social prescribing.

South Machars Community Centre – Sustainable Food for People & Planet – £1,720

Hosting a food festival promoting local, sustainable produce and providing environmental education.

Springholm Memorial Hall Committee – Springholm Community Food Hub – £3,906

Restoring the hall as a community hub and establishing a community pantry to support residents.

Stranraer Millennium Centre Community Trust – Can’t Cook, Will Cook – £3,919

Providing cooking sessions for families to teach them how to prepare a healthy meal and promoting affordable, nutritious eating.

The Food Train – Older People’s Hot Food – £45,000

Providing nutritious hot meals to elderly residents at risk of malnutrition, especially in rural areas.

The Fullarton Theatre – Installation of Dolby Accessibility System – £4,817

Installing accessibility equipment to enhance experiences for hearing and visually impaired patrons.

The Stove Network – Community Print Room – £13,040

Establishing a print room for marginalised groups to explore creative self-expression through different forms of media.

Trad Music Trust – Galloway Hub for Arts, Music & Education – £49,747

Expanding arts programming and creating a carbon-neutral community hub in the Vault Arts Centre.

UNACCI A’ the Airts – Meet and Eat Upper Nithsdale – £6,400

Hosting meal sessions to support individuals in need and fostering community connections.

Upper Eskdale Development Group – Creating a Resilient Hub – £32,900

Upgrading the Hub’s power supply with solar panels to ensure continuous operation and sustainability.

Wigtown Bay Coastal Rowing Club – Isle of Whithorn Community Boatshed Phase 3 – £24,000

Constructing a community boatshed to provide access to coastal activities for all ages and abilities.

Wigtown Festival Company – 26 South Main Street – £21,700

Renovating a new base for Wigtown Festival Company to host community services and enhance local engagement.

Additional projects funded

Annan and District Day centre – To tackle inequalities through early intervention promoting better mental, physical health and wellbeing issues which have affected our communities – £4,073

    Supporting older individuals and reducing social isolation whilst improving mental and physical health. This will be achieved by low-cost meals, group activities and by employing one staff member and providing staff training.

    Building Futures Galloway Ltd – Developing a model of Community Led skills training – £28,348

    Creating a project to employ temporary staff which will enable them to manage step-change in their organisation. They aim to progress from a fledgling training organisation to accredited skills centre and offering a new model of non-academic access to qualifications for young, disadvantaged people. This will be a template replicable across the country.

    Gatehouse Development Initiative- Gatehouse of Fleet Local Place Plan – £4,534

    Working on the development of the Local Place Plan. They will be supporting the costs of a consultant who will facilitate community consultations and will process and present the results to the community using community magazine, Gatehouse News.

    Kate’s Kitchen – Kate’s Kitchen Community Food Hub – £27,603

    Maintaining and expanding their services, including ‘meals on wheels’, for vulnerable people, tackling poverty, food insecurity and social isolation with practical and personalised support.

    Langholm Initiative – Langholm Initiative Cronksbank Regeneration – £27,090

    This project focusses on the sustainable development of semi-derelict steadings on Tarras Valley Nature Reserve. It will support the community-owned properties contributing to the achievement of net-zero and enable the Langholm Initiative to carry out feasibility studies as part of local place plan development.

    Lochside community association – LCA Community Larder Food Hub – £35,375

    Improving food sharing services with energy efficient equipment, a paid driver and expanded activities to address food insecurity and the cost-of-living crisis whilst reducing their carbon footprint.

    Old Luce Development Trust – CAP/LPP – £5,000

    Updating the Community Action Plan and developing a Local Place Plan through consultations, workshops and surveys. This will encourage community input whilst addressing consultation fatigue.

    Old School Thornhill – Thornhill Community Food Initiative – £5,000

    Strengthening the Thornhill Food Initiative by employing a part-time volunteer co-ordinator. The co-ordinator will develop the service by utilising the community kitchen and garden and develop inclusive activities to address food insecurities, social isolation, and increase community engagement.

    The Pamela Young Trust (PYT) – Balmaclellan Community Housing – £33,714

    Developing affordable, energy-efficient housing in Balmaclellan to address local fuel poverty, supporting sustainability and community needs through detailed planning and feasible studies.

    The Whithorn Trust – Developing Archaeological Tourism in the Machars – £38,716

      Building archaeological tourism in Whithorn with an excavation field school and reconstruction of a historic church, promoting accredited skills training and boosting local tourism.

      The Whithorn Trust – Net Zero Upgrades: Whithorn Trust Front of House – £5,000

        Improving the energy efficiency of the Whithorn Trust premises with double glazing, eco-renovations and digital improvements, supporting plans for sustainable community-led activities and training.
