Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway

Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway has invited the Democratic Finance Scotland Team to explain how the community shares model will allow you to raise equity from community members and those further afield (who then become members of your organisation).

It requires you to be set up as a Community Benefit Society (CBS). This session will go into this particular form of democratic finance in more detail and explore the advantages of the Community Benefit Society structure.

We’ll also explain support available to you from Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway at a local level, and outline how Democratic Finance Scotland can work with you to set up or convert your structure to a CBS and do a community share offer.

This event is part of a programme funded by the UK Government.

  • A deeper understanding of the community shares model
  • Knowledge of what a community benefit society is and the advantages of this legal structure
  • Evaluate whether your own organisation/enterprising idea might be suitable for a community share offer
  • Understand the support available from Democratic Finance Scotland to change to a CBS and carry out a community share offer
  • Understand the support available locally for you from Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway

This short event is suitable for community organisations who already have members, are already democratically led and enterprising, or those who want to start or convert to this way of working.
