About Newton Stewart Initiative
Newton Stewart Initiative (NSI) is a community development organisation delivering projects and services that improve the lives of people in Newton Stewart and the surrounding area. With a growing programme of activities and a newly established office in the Old Town Hall Building on Victoria Street, NSI is seeking an enthusiastic Admin Assistant to support day-to-day operations.
Role Overview
The Admin Assistant will provide essential administrative and organisational support to ensure the smooth running of NSI’s office and community projects. This role is ideal for a young person looking to develop workplace skills and gain experience in a friendly, community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide general administrative support, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and greeting visitors.
• Maintain digital and paper filing systems and ensure records are kept up to date.
• Assist with data entry, document preparation, and basic report generation.
• Support staff with scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and organising events.
• Help manage social media updates or website content (training provided if needed).
• Monitor and order office supplies.
• Assist with general office organisation and upkeep.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties that support the work of the Initiative.
Essential Requirements
• Aged 16–25 (funding requirement).
• Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
• Basic organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative.
• Take pride in your work
Desirable Skills & Experience
• Some previous experience in an office or administrative role.
• Basic IT skills, including familiarity with email, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), or Google Workspace.
• Experience using social media or website tools (not essential).
