Volunteer call out to Armed Forces for nature restoration project

The Tarras Valley Nature Reserve is calling out to the armed forces, veterans breakfast clubs, legion branches, regimental associations and cadet forces in the South of Scotland and North of England.

Do you fancy a camping weekend in the beautiful rolling hills of Langholm helping with community nature restoration?

The Tarras Valley Nature Reserve is working with Annan Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club and is looking for about 40 volunteers to help clear invasive sitka spruce trees over a small part of its community owned nature reserve.

The event is taking place on Friday and Saturday September 8-9 on the Tarras Valley Nature Reserve at Langholm. Volunteers will be camping at Langholm Rugby Club with a welcome at the clubhouse on Friday evening and Saturday volunteering out on the Reserve itself.

Food will be very kindly provided by the veteran’s breakfast club so all you need is to bring is yourself and the right kit – tents or camper van, boots and gaiters, and water proofs, make sure you wear long leg trousers.

Basic showering and toilet facilities are in the change rooms of the Rugby Club Stand.
