The Brig Inn Community Benefit Society is looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded volunteer to take on the role of Chairperson as we work towards reopening The Brig Inn as a community-owned pub and hub.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a major community project and support a dedicated team of volunteers working to create a welcoming space for local people.

Main tasks may include:
•Leading committee meetings and AGM meetings
•Supporting and motivating committee members and volunteers
•Helping guide decisions and future plans for the project
•Acting as a key contact and representative for the organisation
•Working alongside the Secretary and Treasurer to ensure the group runs effectively
•Supporting funding applications, events and community engagement
•Encouraging positive communication and teamwork

Skills, Attitudes and Experience Needed
We are looking for someone who:
•Is passionate about the local community
•Has good communication and organisational skills
•Can work well with others and encourage teamwork
•Is reliable and approachable
•Feels confident chairing meetings and helping discussions stay productive
•Has leadership or committee experience (helpful but not essential)
•No formal qualifications are required – enthusiasm and commitment are most important.

Where
Meetings are mainly based in Brydekirk, with occasional online communication and community events.
When
Committee meetings currently take place monthly, with additional involvement during fundraising events or project activities when available.
We hope the Chairperson can offer a regular commitment, but understand that volunteering needs to fit around work, family and other responsibilities.
Support
The Chairperson will be supported by the full management committee and existing volunteers. Guidance, handovers and ongoing support will be provided to help the successful volunteer settle into the role.
Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses can be discussed where appropriate.
