Growth launches recruitment drive for Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway

An exciting period of growth for Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway (TSDG) has started a new recruitment drive.

Internal secondments and maternity leave have also added to a number of new opportunities being required within the organisation, which is funded to support other charities, community groups, social enterprises, and volunteers across the region.

One of the biggest changes is TSDG having been invited by the Scottish Government to administer the Community Led Vision Fund.

This has replaced the pre-Brexit LEADER fund for rural Scotland with the amount for Dumfries and Galloway in 2023/2024 confirmed as over £600,000. This will be aimed at grassroots organisations in the community.

A Local Action Group is being formed to distribute funding via the Community Led Local Development (CLLD) programme.

An Engagement Officer for CLLD, a Programme Co-ordinator (external funds), a Finance and Resource Co-ordinator and a Business Support Officer are all being recruited.

Norma Austin Hart, TSDG’s chief executive officer, said: “We are keen to move as quickly as possible, so we are looking to recruit people with experience of fund administration or project development and delivery.”

The first meeting of the Local Action Group will be before the end of July, with it made up of mainly third sector representatives. They will be joined by representatives from the public and private sectors.

Dumfries and Galloway Council and the region’s Chamber of Commerce have been involved in the recruitment to the Group.

Norma added: “We hope to open up the fund for applications by the end of August and more information will be released as the process develops.”

Alongside this, secondments and a new phase of recruitment will see a number of other positions become available within the organisation over the next week.

“With our recent office move and the new fund administration, it is an exciting time for Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway and a great opportunity to join our dedicated team,” Norma said.
