Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association
Join our Board of Trustees
Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association is a registered charity, formed in 1988 by people living in Dumfries and Galloway with mental health conditions, their carers and families, with the purpose to enable people with mental health conditions to lead a purposeful and fulfilling life. This was a ground-breaking move at the time as nothing like this had previously existed in our region.
DGMHA began on Galloway Street in Dumfries, over 35 years ago. The Association has developed our services considerably to include housing support and care at home services in Dumfries, Castle Douglas and Stranraer, a care home for people with mental health issues in Dumfries, and a charity shop in, Castle Douglas.
This is a time of exciting change at DGMHA, developing new and existing services. We are recruiting new board members to join our Board.
We welcome board members from all backgrounds relevant to our role and responsibilities, including mental health, lived experience of mental health, social care, health, finance, business, human resources, quality assurance and audit, health and safety, technology.
However, we would be delighted to hear from anyone who feels their skills or experience could be an asset to us.
You will be required to attend regular Board meetings (6 weekly) and the Annual General Meeting. Being a trustee on our board is a voluntary unpaid role.
It is not necessary to have previous Board experience, as training will be provided. This would be a great opportunity for someone taking their first steps to develop their charity governance experience.
Our Chair and Vice Chair would welcome a discussion with any interested parties. Please feel to contact us at enquiries@dgmha.org
We look forward to hearing from you and working with you in the future.
