As a long-standing volunteer and community champion based in the west of Dumfries and Galloway, I’ve spent the past decade working to support and uplift the voices of LGBT+ people across our region. Joining the board of D&G LGBT Plus in 2023 felt like a natural step, an opportunity to give back to a community that has shaped me, and to advocate especially for younger members living in rural areas who often face unique challenges. My passion has always been rooted in creating safe, inclusive spaces where everyone feels heard and valued.
Since becoming a trustee, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in running a charity, particularly in today’s competitive funding landscape. It’s been a journey of personal growth, learning, and collaboration. I’m proud to be part of a team that works tirelessly to ensure our services reach those who need them most, and I remain committed to amplifying the voices of our youth and rural communities as we continue to build a more inclusive future together.
