Community Fund look for new members on management committee

Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Regionwide Community Fund is looking for independent members to sit on the Fund’s management committee.

The Fund is going into its seventh year and will be distributing over £120,000 annually to community benefit projects in the region.

The committee is responsible for assessing applications to award funding as well as reviewing the Fund’s operating process each year to make any improvements and is an opportunity for members to apply their knowledge and experience to ensure grants go to the most needed and effective applications.

They are looking for people who are:

  • Based in Dumfries and Galloway
  • Have experience working in or with community or third sector groups or on community led projects and activities in the region
  • Are currently independent of the public sector

The only significant workload takes place over a four-week period in April/May each year, when applications are scored – outside of that time requirements are very minimal. The role is voluntary and term is for a maximum of three years.

Administrative support and co-ordination is provided by Dumfries and Galloway Council and meetings are hosted online so no need to travel. Involvement with a group applying to the Fund doesn’t disqualify you from being on the committee, you’d just be required to sit out of scoring that application.
