Call out for new trustees for Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway

Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway (TSDG) is inviting nominations for new trustees to join our Board ahead of our Annual General Meeting in November.

As the third sector interface for Dumfries and Galloway, TSDG works to promote, support and develop a strong third sector and to ensure that its voice is heard in community planning and decision-making in the south west of Scotland and nationally.

The role of a trustee

As a trustee of TSDG, you will help to guide our strategic direction, ensure sound governance, uphold our charitable responsibilities, and help maintain our voice for the third sector in Dumfries and Galloway.

Trustees should be able to demonstrate understanding of:

  • The role of the third sector in communities, and its contribution to social, economic, and wellbeing outcomes.
  • The role, function and authority of a third sector interface (how TSDG connects third sector bodies with government, supports organisations, enables participation, etc.).
  • The roles, responsibilities and accountability of charity trustees—including governance, financial oversight, legal duties, ethical behaviour, and public-interest accountability.

Only third sector organisations that are members of TSDG may nominate. The nomination must be made using the official nomination form, signed by an office bearer from the nominating organisation.

The candidate must agree to the nomination in advance.

Alongside the form, candidates must submit a personal statement (max. 250 words) setting out why they are suitable.

If the number of nominations exceeds the spaces available, an election will be held at the AGM.

How to apply

Submit your completed nomination form and personal statement via the official TSDG form.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of the role, please email info@tsdg.org.uk for more information.

Becoming one of our trustees is a chance to make a real difference in Dumfries and Galloway, helping to strengthen the third sector, ensuring that grassroots organisations are heard and supported, and contributing to better outcomes for communities.
